Why this matters
Use selection-based output for controlled partial jobs while avoiding the common mistake of sending an unintended subset or positioning it from the wrong reference.
How it works
- LightBurn can restrict output to selected graphics rather than the entire project.
- Selection-based output changes what is sent but does not eliminate the need to verify positioning and layer output.
- Selection Origin can affect the reference used for selection-based placement depending on the workflow.
Practical workflow
- Select only the objects you intend to process.
- Use Preview to confirm that unselected graphics are not part of the job.
- Check Start From and any selection-origin behavior before Framing.
- Frame the selected footprint.
- After the partial job, return selection-output controls to your normal workflow to avoid surprises later.
What to watch for
- Selection state is easy to change accidentally while editing.
- An enabled layer can still contain unselected objects that will not run in selection-only output.
