What Framing checks

Preview tells you what LightBurn plans to output. Framing helps confirm where that output will occur on the machine. LightBurn commands the laser to trace around the area occupied by the job, letting you compare the planned footprint with the real material.

Bounding Box Frame

Bounding Box framing traces the smallest rectangle that contains the graphics being sent. It is fast to understand and is a good default check for rectangular stock, signs, boxes and most ordinary jobs.

Rubber Band Frame

Rubber Band framing follows a tighter path around the outside of the design, similar to stretching a rubber band around it. It can be more useful for long diagonal objects, triangles or irregular shapes where a rectangle leaves a lot of unused space.

Framing does not replace understanding Start From

The frame location is affected by your positioning workflow. Current Position, User Origin and Absolute Coordinates can produce different physical locations for the same artwork. If the frame appears somewhere unexpected, first inspect Start From and Job Origin.
