Why this matters
Create editable text safely, understand font dependency, and know when converting to paths is necessary for geometry editing or portability.
How it works
- LightBurn Text Objects remain editable and reference fonts installed on the computer.
- Text can be styled, spaced, curved and used as Variable Text while it remains a Text Object.
- Convert to Path changes text into ordinary vector geometry, which allows node editing but removes normal text editability.
Practical workflow
- Create and proofread text while it is still editable.
- Confirm the final font and spacing at the intended physical size.
- Save an editable project copy before converting important text.
- Convert to Path only when geometry tools or portability require it.
- Preview the final Line/Fill behavior after conversion.
What to watch for
- A missing font on another computer can change text appearance.
- Convert to Path is difficult to reverse into editable text.
- Script fonts with overlapping characters may need Welded behavior or vector cleanup depending on the goal.
