Why this matters

How it works
- Variable Text replaces formatted expressions with changing data at output, Preview and supported export stages.
- Supported sources include dates/times, CSV entries, serial numbers and Cut Settings values.
- Offsets allow multiple objects in one layout to read different records or serial positions from the same current value.
- CSV files with special characters should use a modern encoding such as UTF-8.
Practical workflow
- Create one Variable Text object and verify its formatting expression.
- Load the CSV or configure the serial/date mode.
- Use offsets for multiple labels in the same batch.
- Set Advance By to match the number of records consumed per run.
- Use Preview to inspect actual substituted output before engraving.
What to watch for
- A wrong Current or Advance value can skip or duplicate serial numbers.
- Do not trust placeholder text in the Workspace as the final batch output.
