Why this matters
Understand which LightBurn settings describe the machine rather than a single project and why controller-specific options must match hardware capability.
How it works
- Device Settings contain machine-level preferences and behavior, and available options vary by device type.
- Workspace, homing-related behavior, transfer options and other controller-specific controls can affect every project sent to that device.
- Changing a machine-level setting to solve one file can create problems for every later job if the real cause was project-specific.
Practical workflow
- Export a User Bundle before major device-setting changes.
- Compare the LightBurn device profile with manufacturer specifications.
- Change only the setting related to the diagnosed behavior.
- Restart/reconnect if the documentation says the setting is applied at connection time.
- Run a low-risk movement and framing test before production.
What to watch for
- Do not enable features such as Auto-Home merely because they sound useful; hardware support matters.
