A LightBurn update should be treated as a short controlled change, not as a click made just before a customer job. The goal is to preserve both your project files and the settings that make your machine predictable.

Before downloading

  1. Save every open project as an .lbrn2 file and close unfinished work deliberately.
  2. Export a User Bundle from LightBurn. It can carry device profiles, preferences, hotkeys, Material Test presets, image presets, and linked libraries.
  3. Record the currently installed LightBurn version and keep the installer that is known to work.
  4. Note the active device profile, units, Start From mode, and any workshop-specific preferences you will verify later.

Install the official build

Download the installer from LightBurn's official site, close LightBurn, and run the installer normally. Do not uninstall the working copy first unless the official instructions for your platform explicitly require it. A Release Candidate can be tested separately, but it should not become the only environment for urgent production work.
