Why this matters
Understand the parameters that map linear design motion to rotary movement and create a safe checklist for enabling and disabling Rotary Mode.
How it works
- Rotary Mode is used to mark cylindrical objects by mapping an axis of motion to the rotary attachment.
- Rotary Setup requires machine/rotary-specific parameters, and the setup path differs for GCode, DSP and Galvo devices.
- For tapered objects, LightBurn instructs users to use the largest end of the taper as the object diameter.
- LightBurn shows a rotary-enabled status indication when Rotary Mode is active.
Practical workflow
- Record the normal flat-bed machine settings before changing anything.
- Install and mechanically align the rotary according to the laser/rotary manufacturer.
- Configure rotary type and motion parameters in Rotary Setup.
- Test rotation and a small wrapped design on a sacrificial object.
- Disable Rotary Mode and restore any temporarily changed axis/limit settings before returning to flat work.
