Why this matters
Simplify imported or traced vectors with tolerance-controlled smoothing and line/arc fitting.
How it works
- Optimize Shapes can smooth source geometry and fit sections to lines or arcs.
- Tolerance controls how far the optimized result may deviate from the original.
- Text Objects and Primary Shapes need Convert to Path before optimization.
Practical workflow
- Duplicate the original vector before aggressive cleanup.
- Ungroup and select only the shapes that need optimization.
- Start with low tolerance and watch the live preview.
- Enable smoothing/line/arc fitting selectively.
- Compare node count and visual fidelity before confirming.
What to watch for
- High tolerance can round corners and erase small details.
- Fewer nodes are useful only if geometry remains accurate enough.
- Optimization does not remove every duplicate or overlap problem automatically.
