What the Console is

The Console window shows messages received from the laser controller and commands sent by LightBurn. On supported systems, it can also be used to send direct commands to the controller.

The key compatibility rule

LightBurn's Console communication is for directly connected GCode-based devices. If you use a DSP or Galvo system with controllers such as Ruida, TopWisdom, Trocen, EZCAD2, EZCAD3 or BSL, the Console window is not a direct command interface for that controller.

This distinction is important when following troubleshooting instructions from the internet. A GRBL command copied into a tutorial is not meaningful for a Ruida controller just because both machines are controlled by LightBurn.

How to open it

For a supported GCode device, go to Window → Console. In the default layout it is commonly docked in the upper-right area behind the Cuts / Layers window.

If you closed it and other windows also seem to have disappeared, Window → Reset to Default Layout can restore the standard interface arrangement.
