Why this matters
Recognize vector paths that do not form a closed boundary and fix the geometry before blaming Fill Mode.
How it works
- Fill operations need meaningful enclosed regions; an open vector path does not define the same interior as a closed shape.
- Imported artwork can contain tiny gaps that are difficult to notice at normal zoom.
- Node editing and joining tools can close or reconnect suitable paths.
Practical workflow
- Switch to a wireframe view or zoom closely around suspicious corners.
- Select the shape and inspect its nodes/endpoints.
- Use Auto-Join or close-path tools when endpoints are genuinely intended to meet.
- Remove duplicate or stray segments.
- Preview the Fill result again after cleanup.
What to watch for
- Do not close every open line automatically; some designs intentionally contain open scoring paths.
- A tiny gap can be enough to change Fill behavior.
- Duplicate paths can create a different but equally confusing Fill problem.
