Two ways to remember settings
LightBurn can remember layer defaults, and it can store named settings in Material Libraries. They solve related but different problems.
Layer defaults
Default layer settings are tied to palette layers and device profiles. They are useful when you repeatedly want a particular color layer to begin with familiar settings.
In the Cut Settings Editor, LightBurn provides controls to make the current settings the default, reset a layer to its default, or apply one default across palette colors.
This is convenient for workflow conventions such as "this color usually starts as my scoring layer".
Material Library
The Material Library is better when the setting is a real recipe that you want to find by material, thickness and operation. A library can hold many distinct presets, and LightBurn recommends it when you need a wider range of reusable settings.
A useful material entry might describe:
- Birch plywood,
- 3 mm,
- Cut,
- the exact Speed/Power/Passes used on a specific machine.
