The Status Bar is a compact diagnostic surface. Reading it before opening settings can prevent a long investigation into a problem that is actually caused by selection context, connection state, or an active special mode.

Position and tool context

As the pointer moves, the Status Bar reports cursor coordinates. It also changes its guidance based on the selected object or active tool. Use this context when a command appears unavailable or when a precise pointer location matters. Compare the coordinates with the active workspace and expected units.

Notifications

The notification area can explain a completed action, warning, or state change that is easy to miss in the canvas. After an unexpected result, pause and read the newest message before repeating the command. Repetition can hide the original clue or apply the action twice.

Connection information

For supported DSP and Galvo devices, the Status Bar includes connection information. Confirm the selected device and reported state before changing controller, port, or network settings. A design-editing problem and a machine-connection problem should be diagnosed separately.
